Stopping Time in the Dominican Republic
I spent several years doing magic on TV and in theaters in the Dominican Republic with a group of talented magicians and friends. We called ourselves Curiosidades. At the time, there wasn’t much magic being performed in the country - either on TV or live and we took the opportunity to experiment and play. In 2010, we organized a publicity stunt that took place on live TV: we stopped time.
We had viewers at home participate, the lights in the studio blew out and when they came back on people called in all over the country to report that their watches and clocks had mysteriously stopped working. Even people in the studio (including the hosts of the show) discovered that their watches had stopped. This was a stunt we had conceived of 24 hours earlier. We stayed up all night brainstorming and planning and honestly had no idea if it would work. Absolutely wild!
I no longer have the broadcast video, but the video below was taken by a member of our crew as we went live. Our group at this time consisted of: Aaron Fisher, BJ Bueno, Dan White, Daniel Garcia, Armando Lucero, Lee Asher, Jason Wethington, and myself.
